Speaker: Juliana Schmidt-Theurer

Friday 09/27/2024
2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Konferenz-Zentrum West, Raum Schweiz

In this seminar, you will learn first-hand how you can drastically improve safety for yourself and your crew. Using presentations, case studies and interactive group work, you will learn the basics of sea rescue, efficient emergency communication, various alerting methods (the pros and cons of systems), drift factors and search procedures, as well as interesting facts about lifejackets and lifejacket transmitters (AIS SART and PLBs).
The practical training, which is specially tailored to the needs of skippers and boaters, is designed to ensure that everyone reacts correctly and is prepared in an emergency. Sound search and rescue knowledge and skills can make all the difference at the crucial moment.
No previous knowledge is required to attend the seminar.
The seminar leader, Juliana Schmidt-Theurer, is a former employee of the Maritime Rescue and Rescue Coordination Center / MRCC Bremen and a qualified maritime engineer with a captain's license. After several years as an officer on Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' expedition ships, she moved ashore to the DGzRS Maritime Rescue Coordination Center, first as “Bremen Rescue Radio” and later as head of operations. As the founder of visiomare GmbH, she has been offering search and rescue courses since 2022.
